Place value




Different ways we can represent numbers:

Standard Form – the regular way we see and write numbers 
(2 456 or 13 789) 

Expanded Form – a way to write a number that shows all the different place values. 
Example: 1 345 010.85

1 000 000 + 300 000 + 40 000 + 5 000 + 10 + 0.8 + 0.05

Word Form – writing out a number in words 
Example: 1 345 010.1

One million, three hundred forty five thousand, ten AND one tenth 

Picture Form – representing the number by drawing it 
Examples: 2 456
