- Anyone who is a Canadian citizen
- At least 18 years old
- Live in the municipal area in which you are running for at least six months before the election.
How do you get your name on the ballot?
- First you have to be nominated
- Complete official papers, provide personal information and the names of those who nominated you.
- Pay any necessary fees
- Your name is added to the ballot
How do you get people to vote for you?
- You need to let the community know what your ideas are.
- Having a campaign committee to help you
- Create leaflets, signs and posters about yourself
- Go door to door sharing your ideas
- Taking part in debates
What happens on election day?
- People go to the polling station to vote for the candidate of their choice. Whoever gets the most votes wins.
