Area

Area is the size of a surface of a 2D shape. 

Area Formula: length x width



Area of Irregular Rectangular Shapes


Step 1: Break the shape into 2 smaller shapes. Tip: Draw a line on the shape to split into easier shapes.


Step 2: Find any missing lengths and then calculate the area of the 2 shapes you have made.  Area is the length multiplied by the width (l x w).


Step 3: Add the areas together of both the shapes for the TOTAL area of this shape.


The TOTAL AREA of this shape is 8 + 60 = 68 ㎠
